So...8 hours from now, I'll be taking a biochem exam. This in and of itself is unremarkable, however it is a bit of a milestone. It is the first exam of my medical career.  That's daunting.

This is all very real now.

I have a penguin and I love her. Also I'm apparently a "fabulous wing squirrel" which makes me smile.

I still have lousy luck with the fellas, but eh. whatever. There are many other things in life. Like penguins.

I love BS. If you asked 100 people on the street what their life needed more of, I'll bet none of them would say "BS". but I totally would.

Because he's one of the few people who can remind me exactly where i came from, while helping me keep my eyes straight ahead.

I should sleep now. I have a penguin in my guest room, and a biochemistry test in 6 hours (where the hell did THAT two hours go?)

Goodnight stars. Goodnight Moon. Good night LJ land.

Biochemistry and Lemons

Tomorrow I have the first exam of my medical school career. I'm not sure how I feel about it.

I don't know. My feelings are all out of sorts.

This is what t I had to know for my *first* bio chem exam in undergrad. Compared to that shit? this is nothing.

Thanks to BS for picking my (un)happy ass up last night. Some things never change.

I am not a lemon.

Though if I get desperate enough, I may in fact grab a bunch of orange balloons and wander around Ft. Lauderdale at 3 in the morning.

Game Day.

Game day, bitches.

Bring it Texas.
I've never been shy in my life.

what the hell :(

this is going to be a pain in my ass.

Gotta tell you, I'm not looking forward to this one. Everyone say hello to Ike.  By the way, the red dot? That's where I live now. This is going to be problematic.  The issue here is that I have a biochem test on Monday. Which won't be effected. however NEXT monday, I have an anatomy exam. I'm scheduled to meet with a Tutor Tues/weds/friday of next week. That's going to be a serious pain in the ass. I wonder if they'll evacuate us. Probably not. It's not going to be a cat 5 (probably a cat 3 at landfall, if it hits us at all), and we actually live quite inland (as far as "storm thinking" goes) we're looking at a bunch of rain and some wind. But still. huge pain in the ass.

Jesus Christ

Good lord.

It's a nice day to be a republican.

On social issues I'm a fan. "Pro-lifers" make me nervous as a general rule...but as far as they go..this one seems to be pretty alright.

"Palin is strongly pro-life and belongs to Feminists for Life. She opposes same-sex marriage, but she has stated that she has gay friends and is receptive to gay and lesbian concerns about discrimination. While the previous administration did not implement same-sex benefits, Palin complied with a state Supreme Court order and signed them into law.

She supported a democratic advisory vote from the public on whether there should be a constitutional amendment on the matter. (Keep in mind that Alaska was one of the first U.S. states to pass a constitutional ban on gay marriage, in 1998, along with Hawaii).

Palin's first veto was used to block legislation that would have barred the state from granting benefits to gay state employees and their partners. In effect, her veto granted State of Alaska benefits to same-sex couples. The veto occurred after Palin consulted with Alaska's attorney general on the constitutionality of the legislation."

This making Sarah Palin (if the republicans win this election) the presumptive nominee for president in 4 (or 8...who knows) years. She's a pretty fascinating woman. The youngest governor for Alaska ever, and the first woman to hold the position. She ran with little/no support from the republican party and unseated the VERY clear favorite in the race.

Cool day.

Alison F'ed me.

Comment and I'll give you a letter; then you have to list ten things you LOVE that begin with that letter. Afterward, post this in your journal and give out some letters of your own.

1.  Family
2.  Friends
3.  Falling.... Wait. That's not right, I don't like falling at all! Stupid gravity. Ummmm....Felines
5.  Finding a letter from a friend in my mailbox (there are only so many things that start with "F" people...)
6.  Faces with smiles on them
7.  Flings(*gasp*!) ...not that I've ever had one really...it's just seems like something that might be fun.
8.  Freedom
9.  Fixing stuff
10.  Flying (it's not so much the flying, it's the arriving where I'm going)
*11. Funny conversations!  (really, it's hard to beat "4 poster beds")

I did 11...because I wasn't sure number 7 counted.

oddess86 (8:50:46 PM): don't jump off a roof!
oddess86 (8:50:47 PM): I love you!
SinginFifi (8:50:50 PM): s'k.
SinginFifi (8:50:54 PM): I couldn't get up to the roof if I tried.
Have I voiced my annoyance lately with the fact that the opposite sex doesn't give me the time of day?

I'd give pretty much anything to be ... you know, normal.

Went out with some friends for Fred's birthday tonight. It was a lot of fun. I'm not sure *what* I did to my back though...normally if I have 2, maybe 3 drinks, it stops hurting. I was in so much pain :( Someone stepped on me while I was grabbing a picture of Lincoln dancing on a a table with Elizabeth (we went to a Greek Place) and I guess when I fell backwards I overcompensated and twisted.  Holy hell does this ever hurt :(

Got sick too. I can't tell if that was a function of the Ouzo, or of the back pain. Probably a mix of both. God damn does this shit hurt.

Something's gotta give. I can't live like this.

I just wanna go out and have a good time with my friends. It seriously  SERIOUSLY sucks.

Ow. :(

I'm going to see a specialist on Thursday, we'll see what he has to say.

I think I'm going to shuffle to the kitchen for some water. Had I been a smarter woman, I would have asked my folks or Alison or Nate to grab me one before I tried to sleep.  Buuuuuuuuuuuut apparently, I'm not that sharp.
